Acupuncture – The Benefits and Versatility

The Versatility of Acupuncture

No-one expects a car to run without being properly maintained. No-one expects to ignore their own dental care and avoid problems with their teeth and gums.  What regular preventive acupuncture treatment can do is prevent small imbalances from becoming large illnesses and diseases.  It’s an investment in your future and current health and well-being.  The return on your investment is tremendous

If you are currently is discomfort, there is a wide range of health and well-being concerns that acupuncture and Chinese medicine address.  In my 35 years of practice, both as an acupuncturist and an R.N., the diversity of needs successfully treated with acupuncture is extremely wide and deep.  For example, women have been able to get pregnant when they were struggling, as well smoothing out the menstrual cycle and menopause.

Children and teens who’ve been diagnosed with hyperactivity, emotional distress: including anger, sadness, depression. and anxiety have returned to “normal” with ACUPUNCTURE alone,  without drug and medication intervention, much to their and their parents’ relief.  The same emotional issues in adults are also treated successfully with acupuncture.

As we age, we all too often experience joint pains, back pain, headaches, sleeping disorder, high blood pressure and a host of chronic conditions, which acupuncture alleviates.

The list goes on from here:

  • PTSD
  • Skin rashes
  • Headaches
  • Sinusitis
  • Asthma
  • Emphysema
  • IBS
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Sexual Dysfunction
  • Auto Immune Condtions
  • Addiction

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine help to manage chronic illness and reduces, if not eliminates, suffering.  When Chronic physical and emotional states are not addressed, they become worse. The good news is that what will become worse if left untreated gets better when we address the situation.  The situation is your energy, your vital life force.  Our energy system is similar to what I mentioned earlier regarding your car. To feel good and to run well, you need to maintain and repair your energy, just like you do with your car.

Acupuncture, Stress Relief and Wellness

Acupuncture promotes the smooth flow of energy, in the body. When the energy channels become blocked, we tend to feel stressed, tired, fatigued  … out of balance, out of sorts. Other symptoms include anxiety, depression, body aches and pains, headache, sleeplessness, poor focus, auto immune diseases.  The list goes on.

By unblocking the channels, the energy in your system becomes abundant. This promotes the feelings of wellness, confidence and vitality. The  circulation of blood and vital fluids increases. Digestion improves. This increases health because the nutrients become absorbed from the digestive tract and via the blood become distributed in the body.  Toxins get are eliminated easily and naturally.

Physical health improves.  The mind becomes calmer and clearer.  You can accomplish more with greater easy.  Give acupuncture a chance.  You will be happy you did!

Acupuncture, Alternative Medicine … New Growth in Spring.

Acupuncture, Alternative Medicine … New Growth in Spring.  Living Stress Free.

In Nature, Spring brings on new growth.  New leaves and flowers bud, the chirping of birds can be heard more frequently, our activity increases and the amount of daylight is on the rise as the days grow longer than night.  Warmth increases.  Usually, there is more wind — more energy.

This environment gives us all more opportunity after the cold of winter. If one has been balanced and rooted during winter, the transition into Spring is easier.  Otherwise it can be turbulent.  Without roots a tree cannot grow, so too for a person.  To grow and evolve we need to be rooted in a healthy lifestyle and attitude, rooted in spirit and the Natural Flow of Energy.

Acupuncture maintains the positive upward energy flow so that when there are bumps in life, they are more easily overcome.  Some of us did not make the time to rest and rejuvenate during the winter.  Thus, our stored energy reserves are somewhat depleted.  Acupuncture will also restore your energy reserves.  When one is in a restful environment, it is easier to rest.  Seems like a no brainer; yet many live hectic lifestyles and don’t get the rest needed. And by that I mean the quality of rest we need.  Acupuncture helps this.

It is important to allow and make time for new growth.  This is the Natural movement of Spring.  Energetically, without Spring’s new growth, the fullness and joy that is naturally abundant and prevalent in Summer, is diminished.  This leads to a depressed emotional state, decreased energy, a decrease in the sense of wellness, and the beginning of illness in a variety of forms.  Just like a fire needs the proper amount and the proper condition of wood to flourish, so do human beings need the correct amount of Wood Energy, otherwise known as Spring Qi, to flourish.  Acupuncture treatment provides this energy, which should be neither too damp nor too dry.

When our energy is balanced we feel balanced, in tune, energetic, happy, stress free.  Our relationships are smoother, the bumps and stressors of life roll off. We feel free in the midst of our responsibilities, goals and aspirations.  When our energy is out of balance, diminished, blocked, too tight, too hot or too cold, too contained or not contained enough, then we can and will feel more stressed and generally not well.  Some of the symptoms that tend to show when these elements and energies are out of balance are:

  1. Stress
  2. Anxiety
  3. Headaches/Migraines.
  4. Back Pain.
  5. Allergies.
  6. Fatigue.
  7. Skin Conditions – Rashes, Psoriasis
  8. Various OBGYN issues.
  9. Cervical Pain.

The positive states of balanced energy, especially in Spring, are:

  1. Increased Energy for all activities.
  2. Taking on new projects.
  3. Well being and a feeling of wellness.
  4. A greater willingness to work through difficult situations.
  5. Strength.
  6. Flexibility.
  7. Feelings of Self Worth and a genuine concern for others.
  8. Balance.

Chronic Conditions most effectively treated at this time of year are:

  1. Fertility.
  2. Digestive Disorders.
  3. Addictions – Smoking, Alcohol and Drug Dependence, to name a few.
  4. Fibromyalgia.
  5. Muscular and Skeletal Issues.
  6. Stress.

When our energy is balanced, flowing and abundant all of Life feels good.  We have a direction, warmth, joy, friends, positive relationships, a sense of inner peace and integration. We will have a feeling of inspiration and the sense of being able to handle whatever happens during the day and year.  Balanced energy is necessary for a Balanced Mind and Bodily Wellness.

Try Acupuncture. Realize the benefits. The motto of Spring — Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Wishing everyone a beautiful and blessed day.

Acupuncture Grief and Attachment

Acupuncture and Grief … Acupuncture and a small amount of Meditation and Awareness help release feelings of grief and attachment.

From Lesa Roberts Packett —

The loss of a spouse is something understood only by those who have experienced it. First, you are hit by the physical loss of the person not being there, and you are consumed by the horror and trauma of the last few moments, of the last few days….by the worry and suffering of the last few weeks. Then your mind goes back to the last few years, and it seems like a vast wasteland where you felt almost nothing….no intense anything….and your mind goes to feelings of anger and resentment over those wasted years. Life is short, as a friend tells me almost daily, and you can’t help but feel the loss of those years. Then finally you are able to get past that, and you can finally start to remember the early years of your relationship….when you were teenagers and essentially grew up together, and you remember the unbridled joy of those days, and you are hit by another wave of loss again, and also intense wishes for those days to return again. But I have been learning some lessons….such as don’t let your attachment to past times impede your ability to be happy in today…so you try to let go, and you try to move forward with your life…and as you take a risk, sometimes you feel a foreboding of possibly feeling that intense loss again, and you think, would it be better to live out your days alone as some friends have chosen to do rather than risk it? Then I remember another lesson learned, don’t let worry about tomorrow impede your ability to be happy today. Taking a deep breath and thinking, this has been an intense rollercoaster last three years.

Thank you — Prasad Hutter for helping me learn those lessons.

Acupuncture, Awareness and Depression

In the wake of Robin Williams’ suicide I have been frequently asked, ” Can Acupuncture help with depression and mood swings.”  Yes — acupuncture can and does.  What acupuncture can do is raise and balance the energy flowing through your system without the use of drugs.  It is really quite simple.  Additionally, there are some changes my clients make relating to what they are aware of that compliment Acupuncture Treatment.  If you are wanting just a quick fix, this is not it.  If you are invested and earnest about your emotional and physical health, then you will definitely benefit.  Acupuncture is relaxing and re-energizing.
